Design is especially powerful when linked to a story or narrative.

This is something I really want to explore more. Some of the best creative projects I’ve seen have really harnessed the power of storytelling to connect, engage and leave a lasting impression on their audience.

I believe design should be strategic and impactful.

I view design as a tool for solving problems and achieving specific goals and I value projects where I can align creative work with organisational objectives, user needs, or both.

Empathy and clear communication are essential to good design.

I believe in designing with empathy and making information accessible and understandable for all audiences. I find it rewarding when I can translate complex or jargon-heavy ideas into clear, relatable visuals and messaging.

Thirdly

Hi, I’m Meabh, a Graphic Designer and Illustrator from Belfast, currently living and creating in the South of England.

My name can seem quite daunting to pronounce if for some reason you aren't fluent in Irish (ironically, neither am I). In Irish bh combined makes a 'v' sound, so there is some logic there. When in doubt; it sounds like “wave” but with an M.

I’m passionate about design because I thrive on creative problem-solving. I’m naturally drawn to challenges and rarely walk away from an opportunity to find a thoughtful solution.

Below, I've shared a few of my core beliefs about design and creativity to give you some insight into how I like to approach my work:

Secondly

MEET THE DESIGNER

Behind the
designs

I realise that not every single piece of work I create can meet all of these points all of the time. The effort put in should always match what the returned impact will be (a social card that'll get buried in the feed within 24 hours doesn’t have to win awards for narrative design). These are just some of the things that I like to build into projects where it makes sense.

What I’m looking for now is a new challenge. I’ve learned a lot about myself over the last few years and one thing that’s very clear is that I absolutely love to learn new things. I've signed up to so many different online courses for design, communication and illustration (which I'm still loving) but I find the best way to learn is to do it through a real project.

Thanks for taking a look at my portfolio. If it sounds like we'd work well together, please get in touch. I'm always open to new projects and experiences.
